S1 Curriculum

In S1 pupils begin improving their Word Processing skills.  We use school produced worksheets along with computer programs and Internet sites that enable the pupils to improve their skills by playing typing games.  We also have small end of term assessments.  In S1 we also use a Presentation package to create slideshows.  The pupils use the digital cameras to record sounds, pictures and movies to insert in their slideshows.  Throughout the year the pupils will develop their searching and researching skills using teacher produced worksheets.

S2 Curriculum

The S2 programme of study focuses on the skills of database interrogation.  The students will learn to follow directional instructions, control a screen image through simple instructions and control a floor robot.  They will compare methods of communication, manage an electronic mailbox and describe issues surrounding responsible use of e-mail.  They will create a document using increasingly complicated text handling features.

S3 Curriculum

Use hardware and a variety of software safely and in so doing:

Load, operate, exit, save and print from different programs.

Input alphanumeric data with a word processing program – using upper and lower cases correctly and amend text accurately.

Produce hard copies of appropriately amended exercises.

Use a Search Engine to locate information and create multimedia presentations.
