Welcome to Rutherglen High's I.C.T. Department.  The I.C.T. department aims to equip our learners with the necessary ICT skills to help them to function effectively in everyday life while they are still attending school and after they leave school.

We provide a relevant, challenging, stimulating and enjoyable curriculum.  

Our pupils have access to a large, well equipped I.C.T. suite equipped with powerful networked computers. 

We also have a range of I.C.T. equipment throughout the school including Chromebooks, ipads, multimedia projectors, printers, scanners, webcams, C Touch screens  and smart boards.

Our pupils · will Identify hardware and media used in computer systems, Startup/shut down the computer correctly, create documents with text and graphics, print documents, save and retrieve work, use menus, appreciate the importance of ‘password’ and ‘username’

We will use several Apps to create documents.  Word Processing app to create documents, Presentation app to create slideshows and Database app to create a database.  Pupils will be introduced to Spreadsheets.  They will learn the basic rules of Word Processing.  Pupils will use a graphics package to produce several types of graphics.

The pupils will appreciate the importance of Health and Safety around the I.C.T. suite and the rules of hygiene around the computers.  Pupils will compare methods of communication and appropriate safe use of the internet, Email and social media.  Pupils will be introduced to programming by using a robot and developing directional instructions.

Outcome 1

The learner will:

1 Work through a series of simple administration- and IT-based tasks given in a scenario by:

1.2 Creating a chart using simple numerical data from a spreadsheet
1.3 Editing a simple business document with text, graphics and data from either the spreadsheet or the database
